The ecm grounds the coolant fan circuit when the coolant temperature sensor indicates the temperature is greater than 222 or when the a c head pressure is greater than 232 psi and the vehicle speed is less than 35 or 40 mph depending on application.
Electric fan temp sensor location.
Its going to look a little out of place but will work.
I just installed a set of electric fans and put the temp switch in the driver side head as someone here sent me a very good data sheet that said the temp in the heads is a little higher due to cylinder location and the gauge temp sender in the manifold fans are working in the temp range they were set for on at 180 deg.
Order the waterneck that i have listed in my picture and put your fan sensor there.
I would leave the fan sensor in the intake or neck.
On tpi engines the primary fan is controlled by the ecm and a c head pressure.
Off at 165 170 deg.
The first switch mounts 3 inches from the top of the radiator.
Like mentioned above your temp reading is higher at the head than the intake.
X2 my electric fan swith is a 180 switch and it is located right next to the tstat on the intake.
Remove either cooling fan control switch from your cadillac by first disconnecting the battery s negative cable.
If you can t put your temp sensor in your head leave it in the intake.
My temperatures remain steady at 180 to 185 on the temperature sender.
The second cooling fan control switch mounts just above the lower radiator hose 8 inches from the bottom of the radiator.
When the coolant and engine temp reaches 180 the fans come on.
