The fan is quieter than a window unit but it s not just the volume of the noise it s the type of noise. This is a great unit for an 11x11 room.

At 12000 btu the ac can provide effective cooling in a room size of 550 square feet. Cools quickly and is relatively quiet when compared to other portable models i have purchased previously. We purchased this unit for our kitchen. Cooled down a 200 square foot room in less than 8 minutes in 90 degree heat.

I turned it to 62 degree the lowest it can get but the air it blows out is only slightly cooler than the room temperature. I suppose if you ve only ever had central air it might take getting used to but for those who ve grown up with window ac this unit is a dream. The unit is designed for the window sill s installation. This was not our experience.

A couple of reviews claim this unit is too loud. It is so quiet you don t think it s running. The only downsides to the unit are that the led display which shows the temperature does not turn off when you turn the unit off and it is very bright which can be distracting when trying to sleep. I ve waited until summer was over for us to post this review.
