This fails to tell the door it is time to stop and the opener tries to drive the door into the ground again exceeding what the door believes to be allowable tension. When this unusual problem occurs it means the up limit switch probably needs to be moved away from the motor unit. Check if the safe t beams red led light is flashing. Garage door only travels a little way and then reverses does your garage door only travel a little way 6 inches or so and then reverse.
